Congleton Jazz and Blues Festival 2021
The return of summer festivals
At long last some semblance of normality has returned and the Congleton Jazz and Blues Festival once again brightened up the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The organisers did a splendid job of getting the acts and venues booked and, although it was a much smaller event this year than before the COVID-19 interruption, music lovers enjoyed not only great sounds but also the fine summery weather too.
Many visitors preferred to remain in the outdoor venues, such as The Physic Garden and Cheshire Brewhouse and some ventured inside places like the Young Pretender and Wild & Wild. Even just walking around the streets was enjoyable, with music wafting out around every corner.
Having been cooped up for ages it was good fun bumping into old friends and catching up with their news in a socially distanced way.
On the Saturday my highlights were Mat Walklate and Tom Attah at the Young Pretender follower by the Jim Kirkpatrick (with and without his band) at the White lion and Cheshire Brewhouse, then soaking up the soft sounds and pretty surroundings of the Physic Garden listening to John Dhali.

The friendly people at Four Friends Tibetan restaurant held a Tibetan Festival on the Sunday with tasty food to be sampled setting us up well for the rest of the day.
First a flat white at Wild & Wild while Sunjay got ready for his set, a very enjoyable session at the White Lion from the Black and Blues Band and looking down on The Unscene Herd in the garden of the Beartown Tap.

Lots more acts played and I'm sure they were just as good as the ones mentioned here. Leave me a comment if you were here and saw other bands that you rated highly. I'd love to know what you thought.
