The Con Club, Altrincham
A new restaurant, bar and microbrewery
The Con Club, Altrincham |
First we tried Bistrot Pierre, a French restaurant on George Street - only to discover it was fully booked and we were just too late for bar food. OK, no problem, we had heard that there was something going on at the market so drifted up there to discover the Grade II listed Market House, next to the covered market.
The place was packed out with couples, families and groups filling all the sharing tables, not a single seat left. It looked inviting and the food stalls around the sides offered an exciting variety of cuisines and drinks. Too bad we couldn't wait for a couple of seats to become free as we were heading off to the cinema later.
Leaving the Market House we spotted a few more restaurants, all really busy and we ventured into The Con Club with fingers crossed hoping they could squeeze us in.
No problem if we didn't mind sharing a table - we didn't so soon joined our fellow diners and ordered a sushi platter to share, sake & lime marinated chicken skewer with celeriac slaw and harissa dip and tenderstem broccoli spears. Only starters, but they were perfect as we didn't want a blow out before a couple of hours spent watching a film.

The atmosphere was buzzing, the bar area was busy and everyone seemed to be having fun.
It set the scene perfectly for the next part of the evening - watching Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. An old school star wars adventure, great!
